Flame-Retardant & Venue-Spec Linen

Most exhibition halls, theatres and public venues require soft furnishings to meet a flame-retardancy standard, and they will ask for the certificate rather than take your word for it. A cloth described as fire retardant with no standard named is not usable.

There are two routes. Inherently flame-retardant fabric has the property built into the fibre and keeps it through washing; treated fabric has a coating applied that degrades with laundering and eventually stops complying. We supply inherent as standard and say so plainly.

We provide the test standard and the certificate with the order so it can be handed to a venue or filed with a risk assessment. That is the whole point of specifying FR linen, and it is the part that most often goes missing.

Inherent. A treated coating washes out over time, so a cloth that complied when it was delivered may not comply a year later — and nobody re-tests event linen. Inherent FR keeps the property in the fibre.
